Nice bink by Humphries, which makes us have an absurd 10 spots in the Grand Slam TCH qualifier, which'll go up to 11 if we get another repeat binker. Hot take, but I think the seedings should, rather than the straight PDC rankings which I assume they're going to do, be on order of qualification, i.e. the top 16 goes to those who are in the televised spots, then slide down to the Euro Tour winners, then the Pro Tour winners, and then everyone who was in through the final chance qualifier is in the bottom pool. If only because I think if someone like Noppert, who is currently not in, were to get through the last chance qualifier, he'd be in the pool of top seeds. Which is absolutely dumb. Anyway, in terms of what people did today, Barney got a quarter final from nowhere which has basically got him into the worlds and with an outside chance of Minehead, although he'd need the same again tomorrow and results elsewhere really. Coates got himself the right side of both lines, Ando's semi has got him to Minehead, while Plaisier getting a single win is just about putting him into the worlds as things stand which would give him a bit of a chance of saving his card. Sharp's the player taking the hits, he's gone from the right side of both lines to the wrong side. Lishman's not a bad player by any means but if you could pick your draw and you were offered a non card holder you're probably taking that one.
We go again tomorrow, as said before I can't really do anything live, I'll be following things on my phone but that's about it.
As an aside, Coates' first round win was absurd with five legs won in twelve darts or less. Since 2020 when my data starts, only Littler, Bunting, Ando, Menzies, Rock, Wright, DvD, Barney, de Sousa and Clayton have done that. That's pretty elite company. If he misses out on the worlds I'm going to be pissed off.
